Bittersweet Time of Year

It’s that time of year when we are so looking forward to our journey south.

We are also reminiscing about all the fun times we had with our family and friends this past summer. We are going to miss them terribly but we are looking forward to next spring when we get to do it all over again.

A few ends to tie up tomorrow and we will be leaving the park on Friday to cross the border and slowly head on down to Texas. The Cowboy says ‘only 3 more sleeps’ . . . it’s actually only 2 nights sleep but you can just bet he’s gonna sneak a nap in there Sleepy smile about tomorrow afternoon.

The Cowboy has our route all set out on Streets & Trips and we should end up in Corpus Christi in about a month’s time with our final destination being the valley – Rio Grande Valley.

The first very short leg of our journey is Lockport, NY, near Niagara Falls. We like to stay at Lazy Lakes Campground, our home park within our ROD (Resorts of Distinction) membership. I know there is a lot of controversy regarding campground memberships but this one works fine for us. Of the 30 days that we are on the road we will only be paying for 5 nights and that’s because we’ve chosen to stay near Gatlinburg to soak up some history. Two of the nights we’ll be boondocking at a Flying J or Wally World (WalMart) & a casino. The rest of the nights we will be in ROD parks with full hook-ups – free.

We are just beginning our 7th season of full-timing and this is a screen shot of our travels for our first 3-1/2 years.

We plan on filling in those blank mid-west states next spring as we wind our way through Colorado, Utah & Idaho on our way to British Columbia.

Just a couple of thoughts as I’m composing this post . . .

First of all - all RV’ers know that any plans we make are all carved in Jello. We change our minds on a whim and travel plans get adjusted daily hourly.

Then a little saying that I refer to often:

If you want to make God laugh – just tell him your plans.Winking smile
